The Environmental Forensics Working Group (EFWG) is for people and organisations working to prevent environmental crime in South Africa. It is currently managed by TRAFFIC and the University of Pretoria Veterinary Genetics Laboratory. In cooperation with DEAT and all stakeholders, we aim to promote information-sharing and cooperation between forensics experts, service providers and environmental management authorities. Our first focus is to build a database of South African environmental forensic capacity – individuals and institutions working with DNA, or other forensics techniques, to combat wildlife or other environmental crimes.
